State Fair Celebration

September 6th, 2017

On Wednesday, August 30th, the tenants at Oak Park Senior Living had a State Fair Celebration, and they didn’t even have to leave the building. The day started with tenants showing off their talents in our “State Fair Exhibit”. We had entrees from all areas of our campus, and as you can see from the pictures, we have some very talented people calling Oak Park Senior Living their home. In the afternoon we had our own version of the “Grandstand Entertainment” with the husband and wife team of Amy and Adams. Of course, no State Fair Celebration would be complete without FOOD. Tenants sampled corn dogs, mini donuts, deep fried pickles and cheese curds made by our talented chef and his staff. The tenants all agreed that the day was a success and are already talking about what they want to enter in next years fair!

Holiday Fun: Carolers & CoCo’s Heart Rescue Visit

January 10th, 2017

All we wanted for Christmas were…… Christmas Carolers and A PUPPY!

The tenants from our Memory Care Units shared the spirit of the Holidays by caroling in the front lobby of Oak Park Senior Living. The tenants meet for choir practice several times before the actual performance. They were excited to share the results of all their hard work with peers, guests and staff. Favorites such as “Jiggle Bells” and “We Wish you a Merry Christmas” were among the selections performed. People in the lobby joined in to make it a fun event for everyone.
The tenants are already asking when their next “show” is going to be!

CoCo’s Heart Rescue made a Christmas time stop with some adorable pups. These two ladies were hoping Santa would put a pup or two under the tree for them.

Puppy Vists from CoCo’s Heart Rescue

September 19th, 2016

Oak Park residents look forward to their puppy visits from CoCo’s Heart Rescue twice a month! CoCo’s Heart Rescue brings in puppies that are currently up for adoption to visit and play with the residents.

Being with a dog can help reduce cortisol (a stress hormone), and help boost levels of the serotonin (the happy hormone). Dogs seem to have an instinct for when sad or frightened people need to be comforted. For seniors facing fears of the future or surgery, a pup can help someone stay in the moment. Dogs can also help relieve the stresses of people with dementia or Alzheimer’s. Patients with dementia experience bouts of agitation, and pups can help calm them down. Source: http://bit.ly/1dOgxm1
