Balcony Serenade

June 26th, 2020

Oak Park Senior Living celebrated summer with a “balcony serenade” on a beautiful, sunny afternoon recently. Musician Michael Riddle performed a 30-minute show on each side of our building. Residents came out onto their balconies to listen and boogie down with Michael and his “backup dancers” (a.k.a. Oak Park’s activity staff and Residence Director, Terri Pratt). Everyone had a great time and we’re all looking forward to another serenade soon!

Renaissance BBQ and Oktoberfest Celebration

October 17th, 2019

Getting into the spirit of the season, Oak Park recently held a Renaissance BBQ and Oktoberfest celebration. Check it out!

Oak Park Senior Living recently celebrated the last BBQ of the summer with a Renaissance theme. Along with the BBQ, tenants made flower crowns and we held a Renaissance Art Fair. Tenants showed off their artistic talents in paintings, woodwork, quilting, and needlework. As you can see from the pictures, we have a lot of very talented tenants here at Oak Park!

Oak Park Senior Living celebrated Oktoberfest last week. Our afternoon included a polka band and yummy German-inspired treats from our kitchen. And of course, no Oktoberfest would be complete without beer taste testing. Our tenants sampled several kinds of specialty Oktoberfest brews. PROST! ?

Christmas in July, St. Paul Saints, and Choir Concert

July 25th, 2019

We’ve had lots of fun and celebrations this month! Check out photos from some of the good times: Christmas in July, St. Paul Saints, and choir concert at Oak Park Senior Living.

This week Oak Park Senior Living had a “Christmas in July” celebration. Tenants broke out their best Christmas attire and joined together for some Christmas cheer. We sang Christmas carols, played some Christmas trivia, and enjoyed peppermint cheesecake and hot cocoa. Everyone agreed best part of the day was not having to put up with any snow or below zero temperatures!! ???

Oak Park Senior Living ventured out to watch the St. Paul Saints play the Kansas City T-Bones. The theme for the day was “The Wizard of Oz.” Everyone enjoyed watching all the fun between innings fun and, of course, the pig mascot. While the Saints unfortunately lost 2-1, everyone agreed it was a very fun day at the park! ⚾️⚾️⚾️

The youth choir from Grace Baptist Church stopped by this week to sing for our tenants. Everyone enjoyed spending time visiting with the children, and we especially loved the wonderful songs they sang for us ??

June Happy Hour and Musical Guests

June 28th, 2019

Keeping the good times rolling at Oak Park with a June happy hour and musical guests!

The tenants at Oak Park Senior Living spent the day in the Caribbean. In spirit, anyway. ? We celebrated our first picnic of the season with grilled hot dogs, burgers, and brats. In the afternoon, we had a steel drum player stop by to share some “sounds of the islands”. Everyone enjoyed the beautiful sounds this Caribbean drum makes. Several tenants got an up-close and personal look at the drums and how they work. What a great day in the “Caribbean”!

This week Monroe Wright III visited Oak Park to entertain us with his special brand of music. The tenants enjoyed singing and clapping along to some favorite tunes!

Tenants at Oak Park Senior Living welcomed summer with a happy hour toast. Later we enjoyed music with Wayne and the Boys. As always, Wayne had us singing, dancing, and clapping along to great music. Welcome, summer – we’re so happy you’re finally here!

Fundraisers

August 27th, 2018

Here are photos from our Alzheimer’s BBQ fundraiser! We held a silent auction with donations from staff, residents/families, and area businesses. We raised $2,353.00 for the Alzheimer’s Association Minnesota-North Dakota. It was a great event, and we served over 200 people.

Howard started a project to help the Ronald McDonald House.
We strategically placed the boxes throughout the community to encourage others to participate. Howard checks in daily to see how many pop tops we have collected. We are so proud of Howard for his thoughtfulness and generous attitude for this cause.

State Fair Celebration

September 6th, 2017

On Wednesday, August 30th, the tenants at Oak Park Senior Living had a State Fair Celebration, and they didn’t even have to leave the building. The day started with tenants showing off their talents in our “State Fair Exhibit”. We had entrees from all areas of our campus, and as you can see from the pictures, we have some very talented people calling Oak Park Senior Living their home. In the afternoon we had our own version of the “Grandstand Entertainment” with the husband and wife team of Amy and Adams. Of course, no State Fair Celebration would be complete without FOOD. Tenants sampled corn dogs, mini donuts, deep fried pickles and cheese curds made by our talented chef and his staff. The tenants all agreed that the day was a success and are already talking about what they want to enter in next years fair!

Stillwater Boat Ride

August 30th, 2017

On Tuesday afternoon the tenants from Oak Park Senior Living embarked on an adventure aboard the Stillwater Boat and Packet Paddleboat Cruise. We were blessed with perfect weather as we enjoyed a yummy buffet and beautiful scenery along the St. Croix River. As an added bonus to our day, the bus driver got lost and we ended up crossing over the new Stillwater Bridge, which for many on the trip was the first time over it since it opened early this month.
